What Mangal Dosha actually is
Mars is the planet of drive, heat, and assertion. When it occupies one of the marriage-sensitive houses (1, 4, 7, 8, 12) it is said to raise the temperature of the seventh-house matters those houses touch — how a person partners, how they argue, and how smoothly the marriage itself arrives. A person with this placement is called Manglik or Mangli. It is a placement, not a verdict: a great many charts carry it, and it is read as a factor to balance, not a life sentence.
How it forms — and how it cancels
The strict reading counts Mars from the ascendant; the thorough reading also counts from the Moon and from Venus, because those are the significators of mind and of marriage. Just as important is Mangal Dosha bhang — the many classical cancellations: Mars in its own or exalted sign, certain aspects from Jupiter or the Moon, both partners carrying the dosha, or age softening it. A chart is rarely 'Manglik' in isolation; it is Manglik to a degree, with mitigations.
What tradition says it affects
The classical concern is marital: delay in finding a partner, friction or dominance once married, or — in the harshest old readings — hardship for the spouse. Modern practice reads it far more gently: the same Mars that heats a partnership also gives the courage, protectiveness and passion a marriage runs on. The dosha describes energy to channel, not damage to fear.
Traditional remedies
The remedy classical texts prize most is symmetry: pairing a Manglik chart with another Manglik chart, so the heat is matched on both sides. Beyond that, tradition prescribes worship of Hanuman and Mars (Tuesdays, the Hanuman Chalisa, red offerings), and in some regions the Kumbh Vivah ceremony. The oldest advice is the simplest: the placement is widely held to ease with age, which is why elders counsel patience over anxiety.
